What are you using? How has it performed?
« on: January 01, 2012, 05:24:34 PM »
I have had 5km out of a 35mhz setup, thats a JR PCM9X with a 4m antenna on the RX

Im now using EzUHF and have tested that to 8km with no issues. I have also flown alongside Dragon Link & Chainlink with it.

was very tempted by the range link and I still am to a certain degree purely the fact Sid the guy behind it going off what a great bit of kit the chainlink was I'm sure its a winner would like to do a side by side comparison with the range link and chainlink

If I had to choose between them I would get the rangelink myself but they are both capable systems

so far I haven't moved away from my DX6i, although I have gone to 800m with it without issue.

I'm getting nervous about range, especially since my VTX is now probably more powerful than my Tx, so I might try to sort some range tests out when the weather improves, just drive out with the wife stick waggling and note distance when it starts to break down.

I've also found someone who *might* let their FF9 go for a good price so ultimately that's the answer I guess.

With 35mhz, is the Rx aerial generally extended over standard, or will it give me say over 1km as standard comfortably?

You should get 2-3km with stock antenna length on 35mhz no worries there

Was that its limit or just the furthest you tested it too?

edit: Went out to over a kilometer on my Dx6i/AR7000 yesterday. Was getting a bit twitchy as to how much further to go.  Will do a test with the missus waggling my sticks (so to speak).

that was the limit using the booster at minimum (0.4w aprox) Bare in mind that was ground range(0,5m off the ground lol) , that translates to a whole lot more in the air.
