@CorporalB I use  Mac and change the setting by copying the txt file from the Mac to the Camera. You know when the settings have taken as the txt file is deleted. Let's call that a cross-platform solution. All you ever needed to know about keychains can be found here http://www.chucklohr.com/808/C16/

not been able to use mine outdoors just yet, but I will say that it performs very well in low light conditions... better than the GoPro HD1. Also, the ability to change the exposure/colour settings in the GUI is outstanding for a sub £30 HD camera. I havent got round to making test recordings with different settings, but for those who don't like the colour saturated hues of the GoPro, you can adjust the warmth of the recorded colours right on the camera, without having to carry out post processing on a large video file.

The one thing I've noticed with mine is the battery just doesn't hold a charge.  I can have it on charge for an evening, til the green light goes out, go to use it a few days later and it's flat as a pancake.

Am wondering if it got frozen in transport or something.  At least it comes with an rx plug so I can power it off a spare Rx channel.

Mine behaves exactly the same as Balders!
Yes astounding results for the money, would say excellent in low lighting compared to the gopro. Not so sure about the extreme wide angle lens though, beginning to tire of distorted scenes...

Make sure that the camera is switched off beofre plugging in to charge, otherwise it won't charge properly

Saying that, my battery will only last for 20 minutes whereas most will last for 40
It's very easy to supply external power to it from your receiver

Over the years the price of an 808 has shot up. My first 808's in early 2010 cost me £7.75, now they're more than 3 times and climbing. About 6 months ago binned the older 808's for the much improved #16 "Real HD" and 808 #16 V2 -Lens D and was surprised to find that the former indicates when recording, while the latter doesn't, in common with older 808's. With those that don't give you an indication there's often enough juice in a flat battery to light up the LED and fool you into thinking it's actually recording, dying as the record LED flashes. You fly and subsequently find there's no video file or a very short one! Once dead, you charge and forget to check the timestamp which may have reverted to default. I think it would help if all the 808's indicated that they were recording and the default was to display no timestamp.

Meanwhile, there are plenty of mods out there for you to try, here are some of them:

Thanks for the nudge @CorporalB

Updated bootloader to V3 & FW to Mov V0.58 using the Java Plug-and-Go Java Configuration Assistant for the #16 Camera http://pages.videotron.com/therau20/nr16/download.html ( I have a Mac and used Plug-and-Go V0.2.1.0 over V3.0.0.0 due to an unresolved OS bug). #16 V2 now blinking while recording.

no probs mate,

v0.58??? flippin eck, they must have just released a new firmware I only did mine a few days ago and it was on v0.49

even though there's a bit of a rigmarole of hodling the buttons down and turning off and all that, the GUI is still a brilliant tool.

I first updated manually to v0.49, but while reading I discovered the Java GUI and thought I'd give it a try. Followed the link above to a Java support applet test by Oracle, updated to v7.

The Java GUI checks for the latest update, displays the current bootloader, mov and avi FW options, downloads what you choose to the #16, ejects and walks you through each set of button pushes, short-cutting all the reading up you'd otherwise need to do. I also noticed that dependencies are automatically adjusted by the config tool.

just noticed the +5v servo connector too, brilliant, means you can power it from your RC RX in a spare port.

so, I could connect it to my Hitec RX unit on my quad and it would be powered safely without frying???  ;D ;D ;D

Or, could I safely connect it to the KK flight controller board instead???

I have just placed an order for one of the cams with the 120D lens...
